Meet Dean Gayon, Associate Principal at ACRM Architects + Interiors
What got you interested in Architecture and Design?
A combination of childhood building toys (American Bricks, Tinker Toys, Erector), observing my father do home improvement and remodel projects around the house, and weekly trips to the public library with my mother and sister. There I would get lost in the big books with glossy photos of work from Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Eero Saarinen, Richard Neutra, and the likes.
What would you be doing right now if you weren’t here?
Outdoors; on the water, on a trail or in the garden.
When you aren’t at work what are your favorite hobbies?
Sailing, paddle boarding, hiking, yoga, gardening.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Seeing my children become adults and on the path toward their own successful careers.
What’s the single most important reason for your success?
Support from family and friends.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
The problem-solving process.
If you could never work again, would you and why?
I’ve often pondered that question. I’m still not sure.
If you only had one last meal, what would it be?
Homemade vegetable enchiladas.
